It's also so cool that this was Michael Peña's breakout role, and he seized the opportunity. He's had a great career ever since. I fell for it when it came out and now that I am a dad, it really hit me when I saw the movie again... it really got me thinking how life can be over in a snap in everyday life situations and how sentimentally vested we are to the ones we love without even knowing how much until something like this happens...Msport_Jonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07037340133602699495noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4784665635104956142.post-12316071146968304232019-01-24T14:59:47.905-05:002019-01-24T14:59:47.905-05:00Same here. So if my comments were completely open, I would have to individually delete at least 200 spam comments per day. I used to have open comments, and keeping up with deleting the spam was a full time job. I wrote this 10 years ago, and, yeah, my opinion on the film is not the same. Like... at all. I pretty much agree with everything you said in your comment. Though, admittedly, when Crash came out, I was certainly manipulated by it. Unless you know something I don't, this website seems to be frequented by mostly quite intelligent, thoughtful viewers and commenters. Though, of course, that's perhaps BECAUSE of your "approval" policy. It must get AWFUL tiring, though.•bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01007438682849559941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4784665635104956142.post-68226056982474667912018-07-25T09:03:08.151-04:002018-07-25T09:03:08.151-04:00Man, I respect your opinion and all . . . but now ...Man, I respect your opinion and all . . . but now I'm going to say something entirely negative about it. Sorry. It's just the way the internet goes, isn't it? "Crash"—and this scene in particular—is so cloyingly sentimental that it gives me spontaneous tooth rot. The idea of Pena being convinced his child was shot in his arms after nothing hitting her at all . . . I'm sorry, but that's just goofy and INSANELY overwrought. Also, I'm not sure EXACTLY what age that girl's supposed to be, but magic capes and saving Daddy from bullets . . . NOT for me. But that's cool, you write very well. I like your website, just not this write-up. That's all! P.S. the film's SCORE is the star—without that music, this movie wouldn't work NEARLY as well. It's important, as a musician, to mention this. I remember the more than the MOVIE.•bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01007438682849559941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4784665635104956142.post-59609230958596567332014-12-29T15:44:32.660-05:002014-12-29T15:44:32.660-05:00Oh I fully agree with you, she really brought it i...Oh I fully agree with you, she really brought it in this movie. And I too love that scene you're talking about. She's so unapologetic in it. And you can read Fraser's face in that scene... this is a guy who deals with this woman's behavior All. The. Time. If I had to ...Very interesting essay on this scene. If I had to pick what I thought was the best scene, it would have to be Sandra Bullock's big scene after she and Brendan Fraser got carjacked. Despite her spewing out clichéd dialogue, she still managed to bring such power to it and reveal how she isn't a creep, but just a rather traumatized victim that doesn't rely on our sympathy. I still consider Crash one of the worst BP winners, but I can't deny how brilliant Sandra Bullock was imo.Matthew St.Clairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08589393934861344591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4784665635104956142.post-28871788907496796492013-01-13T15:32:55.685-05:002013-01-13T15:32:55.685-05:00I definitely belong on the list of people who have...I definitely belong on the list of people who have turned against Crash. While not as strongly as others, this was one I fell in love with in 2005, but now think is just okay. That said, there are a few scenes, like the one here, that have stood the test of time.

This was my favorite film of 2005 in 2005, now... probably wouldn't crack the Top 25.
