Bateman goes off the rails because another guy has one that's better quality than his. That novel is such a wonderful, over-the-top satire of the zeitgeist of the 80's.momof3feistykidshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15622239947336967007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4784665635104956142.post-7711584768401095312013-12-04T00:27:14.211-05:002013-12-04T00:27:14.211-05:00Fantastic post! I always loved the way Bateman can speak so intellectually about pop music. It's just a wonderful touch to the character. Another favorite element of mine is the chainsaw kill (depicted under "The insane thing Bateman does with his mouth..." The way we see him timing his drop is beyond perfect. Lastly, I love the fact that one of the major reasons Bale even won the role was because, from what I've read, he was the only actor who realized it is actually a comedy.Dellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05634519605152190304noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4784665635104956142.post-68952081260265703962013-11-27T15:40:28.676-05:002013-11-27T15:40:28.676-05:00I always pick up something new in these posts. I agree, one is for comedic purposes, which lessons how bad it is, but wow, the American Psycho one just kills me. I don't do well with animal deaths in film at all. Sometimes I feel bad that I could watch people killed on screen and not flinch but harming an animal really gets to me. Sends my mind right to "Snatch"...Cousin Avi, "Open up the dog." Bullet Tooth Tony: "He's not exactly a tin of baked beans now is he?" Comedic in the case of "Snatch" but so cold and vicious in "American Psycho". Love the note of his quick change of facial expression and, of course, Willem Defoe brings an incredible presence just being on screen.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00334582256697355966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4784665635104956142.post-73594391337526740402013-11-27T11:47:56.999-05:002013-11-27T11:47:56.999-05:00i've also really loved the way he says "Y...i've also really loved the way he says "Yes, it is!" after Paul Allen asks him if he's wearing a raincoat.
